Meet Your Board Certified Behavior Analyst

Sarah Welsh, MEd, TVI

I’ll help you understand that behavior change isn’t about willpower, trying harder, or motivation. If you can understand what drives your behavior and shapes your environment—success is inevitable.

Hi, I’m Sarah

I graduated with my undergrad in Child and Youth Studies from The Ohio State University in 2019 before pursuing my Master’s Degree in Education at The Ohio State University in 2021 and finally becoming a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in 2024.

I am an expert in early childhood and parenting. Early in my career, I used Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), the science of behavior and behavior change. ABA allows parents to understand their children’s behaviors and respond in a way that teaches and shapes healthy alternative options.

In 2023, I brought the science of ABA to professionals in the Health and Wellness field, specifically in collaboration with Physical Therapists and Registered Dietitians. This is a science few professionals in healthcare are using when working with clients looking to change health-related behaviors such as movement, diet, sleep, and self-care. Using an ABA-based approach, clients learn to:

  1. Determine which behaviors need to change

  2. Create a plan

  3. Follow it with consistency

The magic of ABA is that it goes beyond understanding a behavior—it actively works to change it.

By assessing environmental triggers and a client’s reactions to them, a Behavior Analyst can objectively define and replace behavioral cues as needed to change the behavior itself. Behavior Analysts can also teach clients how to assess their own environments and track behavioral responses to the people and objects around them. This enables clients to develop self-monitoring and self-management skills rather than relying on (often inconsistent) mindset and internal motivation.

ABA allowed me to look at my own actions in an objective way and determine where change needed to happen. But more importantly, it offered a way to create lasting change. Catalyst Behavior Project was created to bring you that same opportunity—to change behavior with structured guidance and evidence-based strategies.

What Does a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst Do?

A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is a highly trained expert in behavior change, habit formation, and structured interventions. Unlike traditional coaching or therapy, a BCBA uses data-driven, evidence-based techniques to help you:

  • Identify and understand the root cause of behaviors

  • Create structured plans for measurable, lasting change

  • Modify environments to make success inevitable

As a BCBA, I take a hands-on, results-driven practice to help clients apply these principles in real-life settings.

Why Catalyst Behavior Project?

I created the Catalyst Behavior Project because most people don’t struggle with knowledge—they struggle with implementation. Traditional coaching relies on motivation, but motivation fades. I help my clients finally break free from the patterns holding them back.

At Catalyst, I’ll help you:

  • Shift from willpower to strategy.

  • Stop the cycle of frustration and create systems that work.

  • Take action in a way that feels manageable and sustainable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this mental health counseling?

No. I take a behavioral approach, assessing progress based on objectively defined behaviors and target goals. My work is focused on actionable strategies and measurable progress, not emotional processing.

Do you accept insurance?

Not at this time. Insurance models don’t allow for the level of individualization necessary to create truly effective behavior change strategies.

What is Behavior Analysis?

Behavior Analysis is the science of understanding and modifying behavior to create meaningful, lasting change. You can learn more about it at the Behavior Analyst Certification Board’s website.
